Our Story: The History of FAITH Prison Ministry
A ministry working together to reach and restore fathers in our local prisons.
How Malachi Dads Began
Malachi Dads began in 2004 at Angola Prison in Louisiana by Awana. As the program expanded, it became part of Lifeline Global Ministries.
Lifeline Global Ministries provides the overall ministry concept while delegating leadership, funding, and implementation to local churches, nonprofits (like ours), and volunteers. Lifeline Global has recognized and commended the ongoing work of the Malachi Dads Houston program.
Malachi Dads is now in over 200 prisons across 30 U.S. states and 9 international locations.
FAITH Prison Ministry – A 501(c)(3) Nonprofit
In 2015, a local church brought the program to Houston at the Memorial prison.
In 2022, the program shifted from a church oversight model to a volunteer-led model. At that time Dave White and Pastor Tracy Baskin became the volunteer leaders, and—by God’s grace—the ministry grew rapidly—uniting volunteers from more than eleven local churches.
To support this growth, and at the recommendation of Lifeline Global, in early 2025 we established FAITH Prison Ministry–a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. FAITH stands for Family And Inmates Transformed by Him.
Though we receive no funding from Lifeline Global, we remain aligned with their mission and goals.

Both Dave and Tracy were part of the original Malachi Dads team that launched at Memorial Prison in 2015.
As an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit, FAITH Prison Ministry can:
• Partner freely with local churches and receive tax-deductible gifts
• Remain aligned with Lifeline Global Ministries’ mission and goals
• Expand into additional forms of prison ministry beyond Malachi Dads
